The Fed, a Sessions speech, and open government – CNN

Some would argue it’s best to “raise prices and solve the problem.”

Heather Scoffield is the vice president of public policy at Food & Water Watch, a watchdog group. She joined host Steve Andres to talk about the latest news from the Fed.

Rep. Pete Sessions (R-Texas), chairman of the House Rules Committee, is speaking at the Open Markets Institute today, hosted by The New York Times. Sessions will discuss the Federal Reserve’s policy decisions during the Trump administration. During his speech, Sessions will restate the goal of repealing and replacing Obamacare, “to end this case of mindlessly raiding the nation’s national wealth to spend in Washington.”

CNN reports that Sessions will take aim at the role the Fed has played, as he speaks at the event:

“While I think the Fed is correct on many of the issues they are involved in, I do think we need to reform the Federal Reserve. They’ve made a number of big mistakes over the years. And I think their focus has been overly political.”
