On December 1st, five camel dogs were formally disqualified from a beauty contest at Seneca College due to cruelty.

Their owner had submitted photos of his dogs online, requesting to enter them in a contest to be named “Woody’s Magic Hair Puppy Version 2.0,” where they would be judged on their beauty, temperament, and for being the second-to-last dog in the group.

The mascot of Woody’s Enchanted Secret is a stuffed rabbit dog, known as King Candy. The contestants were supposed to be dressed up in identical wig, gloves, a cape and masks, designed to look like a rabbit.

Because grooming sessions with the owner are permitted, the other teams were told they could shave and wax their dogs, as long as they did not pose as the cosmetic queen. According to competition rules, appearances should remain consistent for the entire group.

Since the owners could not submit photos of their dogs themselves, the Woodys had an issue with the images and language they submitted.

Woody’s Enchanted Secret is an alumni project.
